The wife of an Alpharetta attorney is being charged in his death.
Detectives are accusing 59-year-old Melody Ferris of shooting her husband, Gary Ferris, inside of their home and burning his body on their Purcell Lane property last year.
Cherokee Sheriff's Office said they were called to the scene on July 5 of last year after human remains were located on the property. Those remains were later identified as Gary Ferris, 58, who was a metro-Atlanta attorney and the owner of the Purcell Lane property.
After an extensive investigation, authorities said the GBI Crime Lab was able to list Gary Ferris' cause of death as a gunshot wound by homicide.
His wife is facing three charges: Murder with Malice, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Concealing the Death of Another.
Melody Ferris is currently in the custody of the Coffee County Adult Detention in Tennessee.
Authorities said she is being held without bond.
