DeKalb County School District responds to payroll issues for employees

As for the pay increases, the district plans to make adjustments and complete them on Friday through the Sept. 30 payroll.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County School District (DCDS) is dealing with ongoing payroll issues that have impacted employees across the district.

Staff and employees due for a raise this year have reported not getting that increase on the Sept. 13 payroll.

The district says it's working to fix discrepancies with step increases after some employees reported problems with their pay. According to an internal memo, DCDS leadership is aware of the issue and plans to have it resolved by the Sept. 30 payroll.

This comes after a separate payroll error earlier this month left nearly 300 new employees without pay during the first payroll run of the school year. The district said the issue was discovered during the initial payroll processing and that payments were made for about 165 employees. Efforts are continuing to finalize payments for the remaining staff members.

In the recent memo, DCDS officials asked employees not to visit the Central Office, as no in-person action could be taken.

The district later released a statement saying that its Sept. 13 payroll was completed for all employees.

It added that all direct deposits were submitted to employee's banks on Thursday and should be available for employees on Friday afternoon. It added that 184 employees who do have not direct deposits received hand-delivered paper checks.

As for the pay increases, the district plans to make adjustments and complete them on Friday through the Sept. 30 payroll.
