DNR to enforce social distancing at state's parks, lakes
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources Commissioner Mark Williams issued a joint statement on Sunday saying that while many Georgians are heeding the calls for social distancing and the mandatory shelter-in-place order for medically fragile individuals, others are not paying attention.
"However, as we deal with the effects of coronavirus with school and business closures, people are eager for a change in scenery after days at home. They are traveling to nearby counties, heading outdoors for fresh air, and maximizing family time," the statement said.
The Department of Natural Resources will enforce the executive order limiting large gatherings, using DNR officials patrolling the state's bodies of water and campgrounds.
"They are monitoring coves where people tend to congregate and, if necessary, using bullhorns to tell people to comply with the order," according to the statement by Kemp and Williams. "Officials will approach people in violation of the order and demand compliance for the well-being of our citizens and state. Local officials are also working hard to ensure compliance with local directives, which vary by city and county across our state."
Kemp announces federal approval of major disaster declaration
Gov. Brian Kemp said on Sunday that President Trump has declared a major disaster for all 159 counties in the state of Georgia as a result of the impacts from the coronavirus pandemic.
"Georgia is grateful for this designation, as it will enable the state to continue partnering with federal agencies in a coordinated fight against this pandemic,” Kemp said in a statement on Sunday. “The presidential declaration is a critical step in providing additional assistance to our state and local governments as they continue to respond to COVID-19.”
The declaration for federal emergency aid currently covers act taken to eliminate or lessen immediate threats to life, public health or safety.
This also allows federal agencies -- including FEMA -- to provide direct assistance to the state of Georgia.
Motorists entering Florida on I-95, I-10 being pulled over, questioned by police
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has directed the Florida Dept. of Transportation to set up checkpoints at the Florida border to stop drivers coming from what he called coronavirus hotspots.
All drivers, except for semi-trucks, have to pull into a weigh station. Workers from the Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Transportation and Florida Highway Patrol ask questions about where your trip started and where you are headed.
The stops are set up on Interstate 10, entering from Alabama. A second stop is on I-95 entering the state from Georgia.
Amazon confirms worker at south Macon center tests positive for COVID-19
Amazon said on Sunday that at least one worker at its south Macon fulfillment center has tested positive for COVID-19.
The company says they have notified employees at the fulfillment center of this confirmed case, but did not give any more details about the person or which part of the center they worked.
Amazon says they will ask employees who had close contact with the worker to not return to the building and quarantine for at least 14 days. They will be paid during this time.

Habersham Sheriff concerned about folks coming from 'hot spots in Atlanta'
In a Facebook post late Saturday, Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell said he had received a lot of questions wondering if the county was under a curfew as a result of the coronavirus.
Though the county is not under a curfew, the Habersham Board of Commissioners did issue a shelter-in-place order for residents.
Terrell also talked about a "lot of motorcycles" and "folks pouring out of the hot spots in Atlanta" heading to the mountains and how they should stay away.
"If they would stay down there and isolate and just get through this, this thing (the coronavirus) will start to flatten out and it'll go away," Terrell said.
