FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Schools across the metro, and around the country, are relying on online-based learning tools amid closures and quarantines, thanks to the spread of the coronavirus. But it hasn't been smooth sailing as students and their parents adjust to the new normal.
Forsyth County Schools has reported issues with the itslearning digital system as schools across the world flood the platform in the wake of the switch to online classes.
On Monday, the first day that many school districts switched to the digital format, Forsyth County Schools tweeted: "Due to unprecedented worldwide online learning occurring today, please be patient when accessing itslearning. They are working on resolving the issues. Thank you for your patience!"
But issues lingered into Tuesday morning, when the district tweeted again about the slowdowns.
"We understand your frustration with itslearning. We are frustrated too," the district tweeted. "itslearning serves school systems all around the world. They are in constant communication with us and have engineers working around the clock to resolve the capacity issues."
Parents - who are now doubling as teachers - seemed to be taking things all in stride, though, and tweeted back at the district.
The district said itslearning is hoping to have the issues resolved soon. Meanwhile, teachers and principals are aware of the situation and are being asked to be flexible with students. Students will not be penalized for "something that is out of their control."
