A tragic moment turned into the saying of the summer early this week after video surfaced of a woman calling a black man the n-word.
According to a Twitter post made by a man named Craigory, a woman was denied a stay at the hotel after she called him a F****** N***** during a dispute. Unbeknownst to the woman, the hotel employee replied that a managerial figure knew about the incident and that the woman could no longer stay there --prompting Craigory to say "it's above me now." A nod to the fact that the situation was now out of his hands and at the discretion of his work superiors.
The woman never denied calling him the obscene term. Instead she apologized and went on to say that a family member recently died, which is why she was at the hotel. The hotel employee calmly referred the woman to the Best Western he said was next door. The woman continued to ask if she could stay and the man continues to say "it's above me."
People across social media quickly reacted to the situation saying that he handled the situation very well. One twitter user said, "More of him in the world please."
Others quickly wrote that the saying "it's above me now" is officially their anthem for the rest of the year -- symbolizing the need to conserve energy and back off during chaotic situations. The saying also simply refers to allowing the appropriate superior the wherewithal to handle the given situation.
The memes have been flowing nonstop since the incident, according to a post by the Shaderoom.
Celebrities, politicians and social media users across platforms have all joined in on the "it's above me now" conversation.
