ATLANTA — A mother fought off a pit bull attacking her one-year-old daughter in their front yard earlier this month, according to an Atlanta Police incident report.
According to the report, the girl was playing in the yard when a stray gray pitbull ran up and bit her in the face, resulting in at least three lacerations that began “bleeding profusely.”
The mother “ran up to the dog and began to punch it in the head until it released her child,” the report states. She then began to drive her to the hospital before stopping and waiting for EMS.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 7 near the area of Bakers Ferry Road and Fairburn Road in west Atlanta.
The report says animal control and Atlanta Police’s animal cruelty liaison were notified of the incident, but did not outline if the dog was ever retrieved or if its owner was ever found.
