ATLANTA — Voters in Atlanta seemed unhappy with how President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump performed in the debate Thursday night.
With watch parties popping up all throughout metro Atlanta, 11Alive headed to Manuel's Tavern to see what attendees were saying. Many seemed specifically annoyed that they didn't answer questions about many of the main issues Americans care about.
"The housing crisis is very real," one Georgia voter said. "I would like to buy a house someday, and it keeps getting harder and harder. I haven't heard one of them say a plan that would make it easier and that's a little disappointing."
Another voter was displeased by the way each candidate spoke about the Black maternal health crisis as it related to abortion and women's health rights.
"They did bring up, which I was super surprised about," another voter said. "I don't think either of them answered the question."
Many other political leaders in the city spoke after the debate, including Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who felt President Joe Biden missed an opportunity to "tighten up his message."
"Speak clearly, talk plainly, talk confidently," Dickens stated.
He also expressed his support for the current president and what he has done for the country.
"Joe Biden has done a magnificent job in supporting cities, and I'm standing with him," Dickens stated.
On the other side of the aisle, businessman and politician Vivek Ramaswamy spoke with reporters and said it was clear to him that former President Donald Trump won the debate.
"He exceeded my own high expectations," he said. "He hands down won this debate."
