The fire happened on Macedonia Road. Coweta County Fire crews were sent to the property just before 5 a.m. When they arrived, they said at least half of the home was burned.

Georgia's Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, John King, said that there were 11 people outside the home at the time of the fire. Five of them were able to escape the flames that engulfed the house and were sent to the hospital. The rest were killed in the fire and were declared dead at the scene.

Coweta County fire fighters say no foul play is suspected in the house fire that killed six and left five injured earlier this week. The cause is still unknown.

"Upon initial examination, the fire appears to have started in the garage area of the structure. This fire remains under investigation, though we do not suspect any foul play at this time," King said on Thursday.

One of the neighbors, Ryan McMillian, told 11Alive that he heard what sounded like calls for help coming from the home as the five survivors were coming out.

“You never want to see anything like this happen to anybody," McMillian said. “The adult female had two babies in her arms, a small little girl behind her, and they were completely black and covered in soot and all dirty. The male had his shirt off and no shoes on, and he wasn't very responsive. It just seemed like he may have been in shock."

Hours after the fire, a family member of those in the fire said they were receiving an outpouring of support from the community during this time.

"We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayer during this most difficult time," the family member said. "We cannot begin to know where to start in rebuilding. Right now, we are asking for prayers and privacy as we navigate this unimaginable tragedy."

Information about who the people who died were and the legacy that they left is currently unknown. 11Alive is working to obtain more information.
