18-year-old found dead at house party identified

The Gwinnett County Police Department released the victim's identity on Tuesday. She was found dead at the party on Friday.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police in Gwinnett County on Tuesday morning released the identity of the 18-year-old found dead at a house party last week.

GCPD said the victim was Shania Green of Lawrenceville. They had previously announced Friday morning that officers responded to the home on Chance Lane in Grayson and discovered the teen dead.

Shania is the mother of a 7-month old boy, her aunt said in a GoFundMe posted on Monday. So far the GoFundMe has raised a little under $5,000 of a $15,000 goal for services.

The aunt, Sade Long, wrote: "Shania was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, granddaughter and niece who touched the lives of everyone around her. She was known for her beautiful infectious smile and her laughter. She had such a positive energy that she brought everywhere she went. On most days you could find her lovingly taking care of her 7 month old son or spending time with family. Shania just turned 18 years old last month in November. She was just figuring out who she was as a young lady and as a new mother, navigating life with grace, compassion and kindness."

She added Shania "truly left an impact on every one she has met" and "her glowing personality and respectful manner has left so many people hurting and mourning for such an amazing soul."

GCPD said officers had responded to the home shortly after 1 a.m. "in reference to a person shot."

The department did not specify whether the teen was found with gunshot wounds or if there may have been some other cause of death. The GoFund Me post said she inside at the party when multiple shots were fired outside the home, and she was struck inside.

"Officers cleared the residence and discovered one deceased female," a GCPD post Friday morning on X stated. "Homicide detectives responded along with Crime Scene Investigators to process the scene and gather information. If anyone has any information to share in this case, please contact GCPD detectives at 770.513.5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404.577.8477."
