Cumming welcomes new Police Chief

David Marsh leads the police department after 15 years at the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

CUMMING, Ga. — David Marsh was sworn in as the newest Police Chief by the City of Cumming Monday night. And the department's new leader didn't have to come far to accept the job.

After 15 years in law enforcement, all at the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office in various roles, Marsh officially started his new role, Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Most recently he served on the Johns Creek Alpharetta Forsyth Drug Task Force.

In an interview with 11Alive, Marsh said he plans on having an open and transparent organization with community input along the way.

And the best part of the new job may be staying in the community he loves.

"I live right down the road from here," Marsh said. "It's neat to be a part of this community and serve the people who live and work in this town."
