CUMMING, Ga. — A Forsyth County man is behind bars after violating a temporary protective order, stabbing himself, and leading deputies on a car chase.
Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office were called out to a home on Monday around noon about a person being stabbed. Authorities say a woman called 911 about her ex-boyfriend stabbing himself in the neck.
According to authorities, the girlfriend had recently taken out a temporary protective order against 38-year-old Matthew Wright. The Cumming local left the scene before deputies arrived. He was found nearby driving erratically on Larry Mulkey Boulevard. Deputies tried to perform a traffic stop, but Wright drove off. Wright was eventually stopped, and taken to a local hospital to be treated for stab wounds before being transported to the Forsyth County jail.
Wright is being charged with Aggravated Stalking, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude, Speeding, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. He is being held on no bond.
