Forsyth Co. neighborhood makes noise for first responders

Families makes signs and noise in their neighborhoods Sunday night.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Claps of solidarity for healthcare professionals and first responders have been happening around the world, and one Forsyth County neighborhood decided to get in on the trend.

Sunday night, families in the Laurel Springs neighborhood gathered outside their home to make noise for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. The idea was posted on the neighborhood Facebook group to gather at 7 pm to show solidarity for local first responders.

Residents thank you clapped, banged pans, and showed off handmade signs for a parade of Forsyth County Deputies that drove through the neighborhood.

One of the organizers of the 'thank you', Jeanette Pickel Smith says the community's security guard let the county sheriff's department know the neighborhood was planning the event. The security officers and deputies drove their vehicles through the community as the residents gathered outside on their lawns.

Smith says they plan to send pictures of the signs and videos to the staff at Northside Forsyth and Emory Johns Creek Hospitals.
