The Forsyth County Animal Shelter welcomed visitors for the last time on Friday, before temporarily closing its doors due to the coronavirus.
The county announced the decision last week following Governor Brian Kemp's statewide order to shelter in place. With the closure, all pet adoptions have also been suspended. According to county officials, the staff is still at the facility caring for the animals.
Shelter staff is encouraging the public to check the Lost & Found page on their website if they have lost a pet. On-campus staff members are available to reunite lost animals with their families by appointment only. You can make an appointment to speak to a shelter representative regarding your lost pet by calling (678) 965-7185.
The shelter announced that it will not be accepting owner surrenders during this time. If you find a stray animal, you're asked to call Animal Services at 770-781-2138.
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is located just off of GA 400 at 4065 County Way in northern Forsyth County.
