Local family goes to great lengths to find missing disabled dog

After losing a beloved member of their family, the Kimbro’s are exhausting all possible resources, including a bloodhound and an animal psychic.

CUMMING, Ga. — Jenn Kimbro and her daughter Kassidy are actively searching for Patton, their 7-year-old dog, who disappeared on Wednesday, June 12.

“I let him out the back door, and then I left him out there for a few minutes, and then I came back,” Kassidy said, “I was looking around and he wasn't there, and usually he's right at the door waiting for me to let him in.”

She says she looked around the neighborhood but could not find the Chihuahua-Dachshund mix.

“Our animals are our family. I don't consider myself his owner. I consider myself his mom,” Jenn said. “I'm eternally grateful if someone has my boy, because I believe that would be a loving caring person that would have him and is trying to help him…but would have no clue that his family is broken without him and searching for him.”

When searching the backyard, Jenn discovered a wasp nest under the home’s porch stairs.

“As I walked up there to look, I immediately got stung,” she said. “I do believe that [Patton] got stung likely multiple times by wasps.”

Jenn also found an area under the fence where it appears Patton escaped. She says he had been recovering from a fall that left him paralyzed. Patton has regained the ability to use his legs, but she says he’s not as fast as he once was.

“My ultimate fear would be that he's not with us anymore, as in maybe he's already crossed what animal lovers call the rainbow bridge,” Jenn said.

The mother-daughter team have been searching for Patton, since the day he disappeared. They’ve posted photos of Patton on multiple social media sites. They’ve even resorted to some less-common practices.

“I actually contacted a local track dog. It's a bloodhound whose known to locate animals,” Jenn said. “We also paid a psychic who gave us her take on what she believes Patton was communicating with her. Unfortunately, the information she gave us is very generic.”

The family has also placed certain items outside their home, hoping the scents will lead Patton back to them. This includes one of his blankets, a few articles of clothing, and a crockpot full of chicken – Patton’s favorite meal.

If and when Patton returns, the Kimbro’s are planning to welcome him with open arms.

“I told my mom that we should have like a party with all his favorite food and stuff, and just love on him extra, spend a few days making sure he feels safe,” Kassidy said.
