GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga - Weighing a whopping 11 pounds, domestic short-haired Rhino, is known for being a huge cuddle cat. The 5-year-old arrived at the shelter earlier this month and has quickly become a staff favorite. He loves people and loves to be petted all the time. Staci Miller, Volunteer and Resource Coordinator at Gwinnett Animal Welfare, says he will let you know exactly what he wants and when he wants it, “being 11 pounds, we tend to listen to him.” Rhino rules the roost in the feline area but also gets along easily with just about everyone.
Pit bull mix, Ariel, is about 4 or 5 years old and his been at the shelter for an entire month. Miller says she is as sweet as can be, “her temperament is gentle and accepting of most anyone.” She does well with seniors and large distractions. She is slightly dog interested, so Miller recommends that if you are interested in her to bring your dog for a meet and greet.
Both Rhino and Ariel are up for free adoption this week.
Gwinnett Animal welfare is also promoting their Clear the Shelter event happening Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are looking for pet-related vendors to come out and join in on the event. The day will include free adoptions and fun activities for the family. If you are interested in getting involved in the event, you contact Staci Miller at (770) 339-3200.
