Bear evading police in search for food through Duluth yards

Duluth Police officers are "currently out" with a bear in the area of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near River Green Parkway.

DULUTH, Ga. — Calls about a bear climbing fences to get food is keeping officers busy this morning.

Duluth Police officers are "currently out" with a bear in the area of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near River Green Parkway, they said Monday on Facebook.

Video shows the bear wandering around the backyard of a home.

Residents are encouraged to leave bears alone when they see them.

In general, the tips revolve around not leaving food out where a bear may find it by securing food, garbage and recycling, removing bird feeders, never leaving pet food outdoors and cleaning and storing grills.

People should definitely not intentionally feed bears - something that could make them lose their fear of humans and provide a link for more tips from Bearwise.org.

Just last month, Duluth Police officers responded to multiple calls in the Rogers Bridge Road area.
