SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — UPDATE: Mt. Vernon Hwy. reopened just after 10 a.m.

A car crashed into a power pole early Friday morning in Sandy Springs, police said, closing a portion of Mt. Vernon Hwy.

Sandy Springs Police posted about the crash on X just after 5:30 a.m. The department said Mt. Vernon Hwy. was closed between Vernon Walk and Virginia Chase NW, and that Georgia Power was on scene.

It was unclear how long it would take to resolve the situation.

It was the second time in two days a car crashed into a power pole on Mt. Vernon Hwy., after a police chase ended with a crash at Mt. Vernon Hwy. and Northside Drive on Tuesday morning. There was no relation between the two events.
