WOODSTOCK, Ga. — A teen is dead, and two other people were left injured after a wrong-way crash in Woodstock on Friday.
The Cherokee Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Highway 92 near Lovejoy Lane just before noon.
Deputies said a Ford-150 being driven by a 15-year-old boy was driving west on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center median. He was then struck by two vehicles traveling east, causing him to die from the impact.
Authorities said the teen is from the Woodstock area, but his name would not be released due to his age.
The drivers of the two other vehicles complained of minor injuries, and one was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Officers said speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident.
It has been a deadly week on the road for teen drivers. In Alpharetta, three teens died in a serious crash along Westside Parkway. Authorities said speed was a factor in the crash.
