Usher urges Atlanta voters to 'roll to the polls' with Cascade skating rink event

ATLANTA — Usher wants Atlanta voters to get "caught up" in the 2024 election.

The legendary recording artist was at the famous Cascade skating rink on Wednesday night for a voter drive event called "Roll to the Polls."

"I really need you for a cause that matters," Usher told the largely young crowd of skaters at the event. "I don't have to tell you how important this year's election is."

Usher's event came after the first two days of early voting concluded in Georgia, with more than 600,000 people in the Peach State already having cast a ballot, according to the state's election data hub.

"Here's how democracy actually works -- when everybody gets involved," Usher said. "That means everybody here has an opportunity to hear the outcome that they want by way of their vote."

There were volunteers on hand to give voters information about where they can find their local early voting precinct. Usher urged the crowd to find a volunteer, get that information and make an early voting plan.

"I'm asking each and every person here to make it their business to vote this year, because it is very, very, very, very important," he said. "We gotta do this. Can I get a yes from everybody here? Everybody here's gonna vote?"

Usher asked one more time before he took to the rink himself.

"Hold on, hold on -- can I get a yes from everybody here?" with the crowd cheering in affirmation.

The early voting period runs Monday-Saturday in all counties between now and Nov. 1 (note that cutoff day -- Saturday, Nov. 2 is not an early voting day). Sunday voting is optional county-by-county, so check the Georgia Secretary of State's website here for your county's specific timing and location information. Pull the drop down menu to NOVEMBER 5, 2024 - GENERAL ELECTION" and then select your county in the second drop-down menu.)
