Loved ones hold vigil for father shot, killed in front of his family at Atlanta gas station

Jotavious 'Joe' Favors, 25, died in a gas station shooting on Campbellton Road on Wednesday. Police are still investigating.

ATLANTA — Family and friends held a vigil Saturday evening to honor the life of a father who was shot and killed in front of his family.

The Atlanta Police Department said 25-year-old Jotavious 'Joe' Favors was shot and killed around 10:30 p.m. at a Chevron gas station on Campbellton Road SW on Nov. 15.

Shontiana Craig said she lost her boyfriend, her best friend and the father of her children in a matter of minutes on Wednesday evening. She's still trying to cope with what they saw.

"It was a very traumatic experience for us. We watched him lay there," Craig said. "He was the center of attention. He was the one everybody wanted to see. He was the one that made everybody laugh. He was special."

Earlier this week, Atlanta Police said they are looking for at least two persons of interest, pictured below, in connection to the shooting. APD said the individuals took off from the scene in a black or blue Jeep SUV.

"It was me, him and the kids... That's all we had. All we had was each other," Craig said. "Anybody that has any information — please come forward. It's important that you come forward. He didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve it at all."

Craig said he loved his family and his people more than anything. Dozens attended a vigil for him on Saturday evening, just days after his death.

"So many people are out here. I appreciate every last soul that came out here to support this man," she said. "I love you all for him... he was a great father. I was his best friend."
