ATLANTA — On May 21, voters in Georgia went to the polls to cast ballots in the 2024 May primary.
The primary sets the stage for the November general election, whittling down the field of qualified candidates so there is only one candidate from each party up for election come this fall.
Up for a vote on Tuesday were all of Georgia’s 14 Congressional seats (though some candidates are running unopposed) and each of the 180 seats in the Georgia House and the 56 seats in the Georgia Senate. Sheriffs, judges, district attorneys, school board and some county commissioner seats were also up for a vote. There were also several statewide races on the ballot, including a seat for the Georgia Supreme Court.
If no clear winner is decided in a race on Election Day, the top two finishers will face off again in a runoff election, slated for June 18.
