ATLANTA — Beginning Tuesday morning, Georgians can officially head to a polling location and cast their ballot in the 2024 presidential election during the early voting period.
This period will last up until Nov. 1, ahead of Election Day on Nov. 5.

11Alive has compiled a guide to the early voting locations in Fulton, Gwinnett, DeKalb, Clayton and Cobb counties here.
If you plan to vote early, you can do so in person at your county's designated locations (find information on other counties at the Georgia Secretary of State's website here; drop down to "November 5, 2024 - GENERAL ELECTION" then select your county) or via an absentee mail-in ballot.
Keep in mind the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 25, and it must be received by the time polls close on Election Day; practically this means if you're still planning to request a ballot, your best option at this point is to probably return it to a drop box given the ongoing USPS delay issues in metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
If you're planning to vote early in person, here's an outline of what the schedule looks like:
When is early voting in Georgia? | Schedule
- First day: Today, October 15
- Oct. 16-19: After starting on Tuesday, Oct. 15, early voting takes place Monday-Saturday up until the period ends, and will be available on these days. Again, check this website to find your county's specific locations and times.
- Oct. 20*: Sunday voting is optional for counties; check your specific registrar's office if you're planning to try and vote on a Sunday.
- Oct. 21-26: These are mandatory early voting days, Monday through Saturday of next week.
- Oct. 27*: Again, an optional Sunday voting day.
- Oct. 28-Nov. 1: This is the final week of early voting, and does not include Saturday Nov. 2. Friday, Nov. 1 is the last day of the early voting period.
