Secretary of State update on early voting
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger provided an update on early voting on Wednesday morning. During a press conference, Raffensperger reported that 20 people were canceled from the state's voter rolls after a noncitizen audit.
"All 20 of these voter registrations have been canceled, and all of them are being referred to local prosecuting law enforcement," Raffensperger stated.
The noncitizen registrations originated from the following counties in Georgia: Fulton, Bibb, Clayton, Henry, Gwinnett and DeKalb. Secretary of State's Office CEO Gabriel Sterling confirmed that individuals would be referred to law enforcement in their respective counties.
The audit also discovered that 156 people required a human investigation before accepting their registration.
Officials touted the state's advanced voter systems for catching possible errors ahead of the election.
"This is due to Georgia's commitment to cutting-edge technology as well as our willingness to collaborate with other government agencies to ensure that we have the most up-to-date data," Raffensperger said. "Georgia is a model when it comes to preventing noncitizen voting."
