ATLANTA — Georgia voters are heading to the polls on Election Day to cast their ballot in the 2024 presidential election.
Around 4 million voters submitted their ballots in Georgia before Election Day arrived on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
If you're planning on voting, here are the times you can do so:
What times do polls open and close on Election Day in Georgia?
The polls open open at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. This is a statewide window and not subject to county-by-county decisions.
And as always, remember that you only have to be in line by 7 p.m. As long as you're in line before polls close, election workers have to let you cast your vote. There are a few places in metro Atlanta that will have extended hours due to delayed openings.
States typically begin to report results soon after the polls close, but it may be a while before we know who won the presidential race as it's expected to be incredibly tight, and it can take some time to count mail-in ballots in certain states.
