GEORGIA, USA — There are less than two months until the presidential election, and the race is projected to be a tight one in the battleground state of Georgia.
Many Georgians will cast their votes in the general election for the November ticket. It is a crucial election that has already seen many political twists and turns, with current President Joe Biden dropping out of the bid for reelection and his running mate Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the nomination to be on the Democratic ticket.
Some significant dates are ahead as we close into the election:
Dates
- Early Voting: Oct. 15
- Voting Registration Deadline: Oct. 7
- Request absentee ballot: Oct. 25
- Return absentee ballot by mail (received by): Nov. 5- close of polls.
- Election Day for General Election: Nov. 5
- General Election Runoff: Dec. 3, 2024
City of Atlanta hours
- Monday – Friday (Oct. 15* – Nov 1), 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Saturday (Oct. 19 and 26), 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Sunday (Oct. 20 and 27), noon – 5 p.m.

What to know
- You will need a valid Photo ID (passport, driver's license or Voter identification card)
- You can vote at any polling location. Unlike on Election Day, you don't have to vote at your assigned location.
- Early voting ends on the Friday before Election Day on Nov. 1
- Early voting polls are open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

To find out if you're registered to vote, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's Office's My Voter Page.
- Enter your first initial, last name, county of residence and date of birth.
- If you're registered to vote, your information will be available online.
Where do I go to vote early?
You can find your polling location through the My Voter Page. Once you log into your account, you'll find the name and address of your voting precinct.
On your My Voter page, you'll find information on early voting and absentee ballot drop box locations. There, you'll also be able to look at a sample ballot before you head to the polls.
