BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — The 14-year-old accused gunman of the deadly Apalachee High School shooting is now asking for records possessed by the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) to be released.

Colt Gray's attorney filed a motion on Thursday asking for his DFCS records to be released and that Gray would be provided with any records the court deemed relevant for the school shooting case where he's being charged with killing four people and injuring nine others.

"Defendant has no desire to conduct a fishing expedition and specifically requests that the Court exclude all information regarding the Defendat's siblings that the Court deems irrelevant," the filing read. "However, it is the Defendant's position that all records pertaining to his parents are relevant and requests that any such records deemed so by the court."

Colt Gray is not the only person facing charges in this case. His father, 54-year-old Colin Gray, was charged a day after the Sept. 4 tragedy with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of child cruelty. Colin Gray is accused of knowingly supplying an AR-15-style weapon to Colt Gray despite "knowing he posed a danger to himself and others."

Following the shooting, 11Alive reviewed investigative files and spoke with neighboring school districts to learn more about the 14-year-old suspect's school history, where it was discovered he attended schools in at least four different districts.

There was also a previous investigation in 2023 where the Jackson County Sheriff's Office looked into whether Colin Gray or his son Colt Gray had made school shooting threats online. Colin Gray denied those allegations, telling investigators that Colt Gray's classmates "ridiculed him day after day after day" and that he wanted to move out of the school district.

The May 2023 case was exceptionally cleared "due to the inconsistent nature of the information received by the FBI." Investigators said the "allegation that Colt or Colin is the user behind the Discord account that made the threat cannot be substantiated."

It is currently unknown whether the motion to release any information DFCS has on Colt Gray will be released.
