Here's some of the key information you'll want to know.

ATLANTA — This afternoon, people across America will be treated to our second total solar eclipse in the last seven years, an event that won't be around for another two decades.

Atlanta is not in the path of totality -- meaning we won't have quite the same show of total midday darkness that cities within the path will see. Nonetheless, it'll still be a remarkable sight if get the proper eclipse glasses and turn your head to the sky.

How much of the eclipse will we actually see?

We will see 80-85% coverage at our peak.

That sounds pretty good, but don't expect sudden darkness like you'd see in the path of totality. Even a little bit of sun is enough to keep things pretty normal-looking outside.

However if you have your glasses and look up at the sky, you'll be able to see how most of the sun is being covered by the moon.

What time will the eclipse occur?

It begins in Georgia around 1:45 p.m., peaks at 3:04 p.m. and ends at 4:21 p.m.
