More on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets had a bounce-back year in head coach Brent Key's first full year as head coach. They were 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the ACC, with ranked wins over Miami (FL) on the road and North Carolina at home on The Flats.
Their offense took a huge step forward in 2023 under transfer quarterback Haynes King. Although Tech's defense struggled at times, they did just enough to become bowl-eligible for the first time since the Paul Johnson era.
Key coached on the staff at UCF for 10 years, from 2005-2015. In a press conference announcing the bowl game, Key said it was a matchup of his alma mater versus his wife's.
It is a rematch of the 2022 season when the Jackets went down to Orlando and lost to the Knights 27-10.
