ATLANTA — After the Braves walked off the Arizona Diamondbacks in exciting fashion Friday night, manager Brian Snitker delivered some worrisome news in the postgame presser.
Snitker said that staff ace Spencer Strider will undergo an MRI on Saturday after he came into the dugout "complaining about his elbow" after he was lifted after completing just four innings in the team's home opener at Truist Park.
Strider didn't look sharp on Friday, as he got roughed around for seven hits and five earned runs, while walking three and uncharacteristically striking out only four Dbacks hitters while his velocity was noticeably down.
Braves fans are hoping that the elbow discomfort for Strider on Friday night is just a short-term temporary issue that can be resolved as soon as possible.
Despite a deep Braves rotation, losing a guy like Strider would be detrimental to the rotation and to the team's World Series chances, as Strider was the odds-on favorite for National League Cy Young entering the season.
