Here's how Coco Gauff did at the Paris Olympics today

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula were in action against a Czech pair in the women's doubles tournament.

PARIS, France — American tennis superstar Coco Gauff suffered her second knockout in as many days on Wednesday at the Paris Olympics, with her and partner Jessica Pegula losing their second round doubles match.

The Team USA pair won the first set against the Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova. But they dropped the next two and exited the doubles tournament.

For Gauff, the world's No. 2 ranked singles player, it was another disappointing turn in her Paris Olympics story -- which began on the highest of notes, as she was named a Team USA flag-bearer.

She exited the singles tournament on Tuesday in a frustrating loss that included controversy at the end, where she disputed a call to no avail from the chair umpire.

“There’s been multiple times this year where that’s happened to me — where I felt like I always have to be an advocate for myself on the court,” Gauff said afterward, renewing a call for video review to be used in tennis, as it is in many other professional sports. “I felt that he called it before I hit, and I don’t think the ref disagreed. I think he just thought it didn’t affect my swing, which I felt like it did.”

Does Coco Gauff have any more matches at the Olympics?

There's still hope for a medal in Paris for  Gauff, however.

The 20-year-old, who grew up partly in Atlanta, is still as of Wednesday afternoon involved in the mixed doubles tournament with Taylor Fritz.

The two are due to play Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada later in the afternoon.

Fritz will hopefully prove a fruitful doubles partner for Gauff -- he's already won a men's doubles match Wednesday, joining with Tommy Paul to beat Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands to advance to the quarterfinals in that tournament.
