Watch the moment Tom Cruise repels from top of Olympic stadium during Closing Ceremony

The "Top Gun" star was seen all throughout Paris during the Games, taking in the sights and sounds of the Olympics.

PARIS, France β€” The Paris Olympics had no shortage of memorable moments, and that held true through the official ending of the Games.

During Sunday night's Closing Ceremony, Paris bid adieu to the world and passed of hosting duties to the next host city: Los Angeles. And what better way to mark the official countdown to the 2028 Summer Games than with a little bit of Hollywood magic? Enter Tom Cruise.

The "Top Gun" star was seen all throughout Paris during the Games, taking in the sights and sounds of the Olympics. And on Sunday, the 61-year-old actor, known for doing his own death-defying stunts in his movies, executed them in front of a different kind of global audience when he repelled from the top of the Olympic stadium into the crowd of athletes below.

After landing, Cruise walked up to the stage to receive the Olympic flag before hopping on a motorcycle -- a nod to a staple sequence in practically each one of the star's movies -- to ride out of the stadium.
