Atlanta's Christopher Eubanks set to try and recreate Wimbledon magic

He will play his first round match Tuesday afternoon at the tournament, a year after he reached the quarterfinals.

LONDON, UK — Christopher Eubanks, an Atlanta native and freshly-minted 2024 Olympian, is set to try and recreate his magical Wimbledon run of a year ago beginning with his first round match Tuesday.

Eubanks, currently ranked 62nd in the world, squares off with French qualifier Quentin Halys. The two will play the fourth match of the day on Court 5, which will be around 1:40 p.m. according to Google listings (matches at Wimbledon do not follow a timed schedule but rather are paced by order of play one after the next).

This year's Wimbledon tournament will be an opportunity for the 28-year-old to revisit the highlight of his career, achieved last year with a run to the quarterfinals.

Eubanks arrives this year in a run of uneven form, having lost his first match in eight of the last nine tournaments he's entered. But he did reach the quarterfinals in June at the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Germany, underscoring his better success playing on grass.

It will be a huge summer for Eubanks, who grew up in Atlanta and went to Georgia Tech -- in addition to Wimbledon, he's also set to travel to Paris for the Olympics after being named last month to the U.S. Olympic tennis team.

The opening round matches of Wimbledon are airing on ESPN and its properties throughout the day.
