Alpharetta road to close for investigation into crash that killed 3 teens

The northbound lanes of Westside Parkway between Maxwell and Hembree Roads will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — An Alpharetta roadway will be closed for two hours Tuesday morning for an investigation into a fatal crash that claimed the lives of three teens earlier this month.

The northbound lanes of Westside Parkway between Maxwell and Hembree Roads will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m., according to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. Officials said southbound lanes would remain open during the investigation.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on May 14 when the driver of the car lost control, and the car flipped upside down and crashed into the tree line. Three 18-year-olds,  Sriya Avasarala, Anvi Sharma, and Aryan Joshi, died in the crash.

Avasarala and Sharma were freshman students at the University of Georgia, while Joshi was a senior at Alpharetta High School.

Two other people were also hospitalized in the wreck.
