Traffic expected to be heavy in Atlanta this weekend due to multiple events | Details

Several huge events are happening this weekend that will likely impact your commute, including visits from presidential campaigns and more.

ATLANTA — It's going to be a busy weekend in Atlanta, and you know what that calls for heavy traffic. 

Several huge events are happening this weekend that will likely impact your commute, including visits from presidential campaigns and more. 

Here's what we know. 

Saturday, Oct. 27 traffic impacts in Atlanta

Vice Presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance Rally

  • The vice presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump's running mate will be in town for a rally at the Georgia Freight Depot on MLK Jr. Drive.
  • Impacts: Doors will open at 9 a.m., and Vance will start his remarks. The vice presidential candidate will have a motorcade. It's unclear what airport he will arrive at, but drivers could see potential impacts to the Downtown Atlanta area. 

Spelhouse Homecoming 

  • The Homecoming game (Morehouse vs. Fort Valley) will be on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at B.T. Harvey Stadium at Morehouse in Atlanta, kicking off other festivities. 
  • Impacts: The area near Downtown Atlanta near the Atlanta University Center will most likely experience heavy traffic due to the game and tailgating, which will start at 10 a.m. Early arrival is recommended. 

ONE Musicfest first day

  • The two-day festival will feature a mix of hip-hop, R&B, and soul, with well-known artists and a few surprises planned.
  • Impacts: The festival will start at noon until 11 p.m. at Central Park, which is in the city's Old Fourth Ward, not far from where the other events are. Some festival-goers are traveling from other places to see their favorite artists, causing heavy traffic. 

Sunday, Oct. 28 traffic impacts in Atlanta

Second Gentlemen Douglas Emhoff campaign in Clayton County

  • Emhoff will be in town campaigning for his wife in Clayton County for a block party. The exact location is unclear. 
  • Impacts: The event will start at 11 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Motorists should plan accordingly.

ONE Musicfest second day

Although the weekend will be filled with events, your Monday commute might get a little heavier, too. 

Former President Trump is supposed to be coming into town for a rally on Monday, Oct. 28. The rally will be at the McCamish Pavillion on Fowler Street on Georgia Tech's campus. Atlanta Police is encouraging residents to use MARTA, rideshare and carpool.
