Delta issuing travel waiver for people flying to, from and through Atlanta impacted by Hurricane Helene

Delta said a ticket must be reissued on or before October 1.

ATLANTA — Delta on Thursday issued a travel waiver for people who are being impacted by Hurricane Helene as they fly to, from or through Atlanta.

Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall later Thursday in Florida's Big Bend region, possibly as large as a Category 4 storm. It will then travel north through Georgia and is expected to impact metro Atlanta and north Georgia sometime after midnight in the early morning hours of Friday.

Already, dozens of flights have been canceled to and from Atlanta, primarily between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and destinations in Florida, where some airports have closed.

"Delta anticipates possible changes to Friday morning’s scheduled operations at ATL as weather conditions (primarily winds) affect the airport early in the day. Delays and some cancellations may be necessary to safely serve our customers after peak weather concerns have passed by midday Friday," a release said.

If you're among the travelers impacted going through, to or from Atlanta, here are details on the waiver:
