Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida just before midnight Thursday after rapid intensification over the Gulf of Mexico. It's now headed northward into Georgia and Atlanta into the early morning hours of Friday.

Keep in mind that the impact on air travel may not be as significant as you think. The brunt of the storm will arrive in metro Atlanta and north Georgia during overnight hours when flights generally aren't taking off or landing here.
