Weather forecast for Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

No rain delays or postponements are likely, as opposed to last weekend's Daytona 500

HAMPTON, Ga. — We're just days away from a big weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway when the Ambetter Health 400 gets underway on Sunday afternoon. And the weather forecast couldn't be nicer!

The 11Alive StormTrackers are forecasting mostly sunny skies Sunday afternoon in Hampton, Georgia, with a high temperature of 67°.

If you'll be out at Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier that morning, a light jacket may be a good idea. We'll start in the mid-30s around sunrise. But by the time gates open at AMS at 11 a.m., temperatures should be on their way up into the low 50s.

At the start of the race, we'll be in the mid and upper 60s. It will feel warm in the bright sunshine with our late February sun angle! Take a hat, sunglasses, and some sunscreen for the race. And if you plan on taking in a cooler, as AMS allows, don't forget the water! As the race is ending, the sun will be setting, and temperatures will quickly cool off into the 50s again.

The third of three races at the speedway that weekend will have the nicest weather. Saturday, the Fr8 208 NASCAR Truck Race starts at 2 p.m., followed by the 5 p.m. start of the RAPTOR Kind of Tough 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race. The weather looks nearly perfect for Saturday as well, but not quite as warm as the big race on Sunday. There will be a partly cloudy sky on Saturday, with temperatures in the low 60s in the afternoon. Temps should fall back into the 50s for the Xfinity Series race in the evening.
