Flash flooding seen in Hall County

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Update: Roads are now back open in the area.

There is a growing concern about flooding in Hall County just east of Interstate 985 between Gainesville and Flowery Branch.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for parts of Hall County, including Gainesville. 

FORECAST: Afternoon storms redevelop Friday

According to Hall County officials in the sheriff's office and the county emergency management agency, the flooding began just after 2 p.m. and is concentrated along Atlanta Highway (GA 13) at 1st Street in the Chicopee community, just south of Gainesville.

11Alive viewers shared reports of flooded parking lots in the area. More viewers shared images of flooding off Chicopee Road and Burgundy Way. 

According to 11Alive's Weather Impact Team, the area picked up nearly 3 to 4 inches of rain, with some spots picking up more than 4.2 inches total.

Currently, officials said that law enforcement is blocking the flooded roadways but added they anticipate it will subside once the heavy rain stops. 

Right now, officials said there have been no injuries or incidents reported related to the flooding that they are aware of.
