ATLANTA — Because of potential rain and flooding from Hurricane Debby, Georgia responders are preparing for the impacts all over our state.
Terri Badour is the Greater Atlanta Red Cross executive director. She said crews left Sunday ahead of Monday's potential storm impacts.
Badour advised that Georgians have an emergency kit.
"Water, snacks, cellphone chargers," Badour listed.
Alicia Brown is Georgia Power's public relations communication specialist. She added to the list for the kits.
"This would have any batteries, flashlights, any chargers, any medications that you may need," Brown said.
Badour said more help is on the way.
"We're anticipated to have about 200 Red Crossers from here in the state as well as neighboring states," Badour said.
Brown said they've got staff on standby as well.
"We have our crews stationed in the areas that may be impacted the most," Brown said.
Heavy rain, winds, and flooding are already in parts of Florida. With conditions like these, power outages are almost inevitable. Georgians may eventually wonder when their lights will come back on.
When anxieties like these start to rise like the waves in Florida's oceans, Brown said residents must be patient.
"We can't send anyone out until the winds have subsided and it's safe to do so," Brown said.
Badour said the Red Cross will be offering an array of services.
"We really provide that safe shelter for individuals who aren't able to return back to their homes, feeding, as well as emergency clean-up supplies, emotional health support, and also — what we call — health services," Badour said.

Brown said follow them on social media, too, for the latest.
Badour said the Red Cross is always looking for volunteers and donations.
