Helene aftermath | Atlanta VA Health Care System gathering donations to send to Asheville, North Carolina

The Atlanta VA Health Care System will be sending these items to help those in Asheville, North Carolina.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta VA Health Care System is seeking donations to help those affected by Hurricane Helene in Asheville, North Carolina, according to a release. 

Atlanta VA Chief Emergency Department Nurse Cheryl Perkins said they are accepting hygiene items, clothing and cleaning products. There will be two different drop-off items on Friday, Oct. 11, between 8 a.m. to noon. Those locations are: 

  • Atlanta VAHCS Pete Wheeler Auditorium at 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 
  • Blairsville VA Clinic lobby at 1294 GA-515 #100, Blairsville, GA 30512

They will be shipping these items to Asheville on Friday afternoon. 

"This collaborative effort aims to provide some relief and assistance for those hurting after the hurricane," Perkins said.
