GEORGIA, USA — Some north Georgia counties experienced heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds as storms moved through the area on Friday
The Storm Prediction Center placed northeast Georgia in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather.
Friday's storms came after multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued on Thursday night for some metro Atlanta counties, causing damages in some areas.

6:22 p.m. | The Georgia Power outage map shows thousands of customers experiences outages:
- DeKalb: more than 8,500
- Fulton: more than 5,200
- Cobb: more than 1,800
- Gwinnett: more than 1,700
- Clayton: About 30 customers impacted
6:10 p.m. | Some flights at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are experiencing delays due to thunderstorms.
6:06 p.m. | The Georgia Power outage map shows there are about 4,000 customers without power in DeKalb County. About 3,000 customers in Fulton County are dealing with outages.
6:00 p.m. | 11Alive Weather Impact Team's, Layla Ferrell , captured the storm clouds moving into Canton before the severe weather.
5:35 p.m. | According to the Cherokee County EMA, downed trees and downed power lines is Puckett Creek Road, Elmwood Street, Santa Fe Trail and Bells Ferry Road, Reinhardt College Pkwy and Riverstone Pkwy and Roy Puckett Lane and McGee Trail.
5:23 p.m. | TOUR Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta was suspended at 5:15 p.m. due to inclement weather.
The PGA TOUR posted on X about the suspension, which happened during the second round.
5:05 p.m. | Bartow County EMA and Fire Services have reported a tree on a car near Adairsville.
4:50 p.m. | Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 8/30/2024 4:50 PM to 5:30 PM EDT for Gordon County, GA, Bartow County, GA.
4:30 p.m. | White County Emergency Management Agency reported seven trees down on the east and central parts of the county.
The county's EMA also reported damage at Duncan Bridge Road and the Helen Highway area.
4:14: p.m. | Cherokee County EMA reported more trees down on Freehome Highway, Creek Road/Waleska Road, Shoals Creek Road, Hospital Road and Juniper Street/Center Street.
4:04 p.m. | Cherokee County officials reported a structure fire due to a possible lightning strike. It's unclear if anyone is injured.
4:00 p.m. | The Cherokee County EMA also reported downed trees and power lines on Bascomb Carmel Road and Dupree Road. The agency also reported downed trees on Lower Burris Road and Worley Road.
The agency added that traffic was also impacted due to the weather, and they responded to multiple vehicle incidents. It's unclear if anyone has been hurt.
3:20 p.m. | The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency reported a tree down at Reavis Mountain Rd and Pickens St near Bethesda Trail.
