Metro Atlanta wakes up to storms, wet commute

11Alive is tracking the latest weather and traffic developments.

ATLANTA — You may experience a wet commute Wednesday as we experience heavy rain and some storms while ushering in a cold front. 

By the afternoon it will be a windy Wednesday with gusts expected to reach up to 45 mph meaning any unsecured outdoor objects could be blown away and tree limbs and power lines may be impacted. You could also see power outages in the wake of the wind advisory, which is in effect until midnight.

9:05 a.m. | All but one lane is back open on I-75 northbound at Mt. Paran Road. 

8:40 a.m. | Crash at I-75 near Mt. Paran Road has all northbound lanes blocked. If you are heading into Cobb County from Midtown, use Highway 41. 

8:35 a.m. | Traffic is FINALLY moving again on I-75 south near Acworth after crews worked to get a truck out from the woods. 

8:30 a.m. | Crash blocking two right lanes on I-285 southbound just past Camp Creek Parkway. 

8:15 a.m. | We are seeing 10 miles of backups as crews work to get a truck out of the woods on I-75. 

7:50 a.m. | It's not in the metro area, but if you are heading to Augusta this morning, be aware of a major issue on I-20 in Warren County. All eastbound lanes are blocked due to a fatal crash.

7:15 a.m. | A wreck on I-85 southbound at Hamilton Mill has one car overturned. Use Highway 124 as an alternate. 

7:05 a.m. | Officials are holding all lanes to pull the truck out of the tree line on I-75 near Highway 92.

6:50 a.m. | Lanes are finally reopening on I-75 northbound past Highway 255, but big delays remain in both directions. 

6:30 a.m. | All lanes of I-85 northbound past Sylvan Road are blocked as they work to move this wreck out of the way: 

6:15 a.m. | On Ga. 400 southbound, a wreck blocks two left lanes. Use Roswell Road as an alternate. 

6:10 a.m. | Meteorologist Chesley McNeil is tracking the line of rain in our area and giving us the latest updates.

6 a.m. | Pickens County Schools have announced a two hour delay.

6 a.m. | A wreck is causing delays at Memorial Drive on I-285 northbound. Two left lanes are blocked. 

5:45 a.m. | A spinout on I-20 westbound at Langhorn Street has all lanes blocked as they clear the wreck. 

5:40 a.m. | A truck went off I-75 southbound near Acworth at Highway 92 in Cobb County. 

5:35 a.m. | A wreck has shut down I-75 northbound at Highway 225 in Calhoun.

5 a.m. | A couple north Georgia school districts announced a late start for Wednesday.

Griffin-Spalding Schools will have a three-hour delay. Henry County Schools have announced a two-hour delay.
