ATLANTA — Several metro Atlanta school districts are announcing delays for Wednesday, Jan. 25, as rain and wind move in overnight.
Here's the list of schools that have announced delays so far:
Griffin-Spalding Schools
Griffin-Spalding County Schools will be on a three-hour delay Wednesday out of "an abundance of caution" due to the weather.
In a social media post, the school district said, "Due to the recency of severe weather and the instability of debris from the previous storms we are exercising an abundance of caution and delaying our start time by three hours."
High schools will begin at 10:40 a.m., elementary schools will begin at 11 a.m. and middle schools will report at 11:40 a.m.
The school district said students should be at their bus stops three hours later than normal.
"No students should be at bus stops before 9 a.m.," the school district added.
Office and maintenance staff, school principals and morning custodians should report to work at 8:30 a.m. Other morning employees should be at work by 9:30 a.m.
Henry County Schools
Additionally, Henry County Schools will be on a two-hour delay.
The school district said elementary schools will start at 9:35 a.m., high schools will start at 10:15 a.m. and middle schools will start at 11 a.m.
Bus routes will also change to reflect the two-hour delay.
"The delayed start will not change the time school ends, including dismissal by bus transportation," the school district said.
Meriweather County Schools
All schools in the county will delay until 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Parents and guardians can expect the bus to arrive around two hours behind the regular bus route schedule, they said.
Pickens County Schools
Pickens County will start two hours late on Wednesday due to "several trees down across roadways," they said.
