ATLANTA — Snow is falling in Georgia!

On Monday, light snow began falling in the northern counties of Georgia, as part of a winter system that is pelting parts of the country - including New York City - with blizzard-like conditions.

Reports from our 11Alive StormTrackers said that snow fell down in Jasper, Cedartown the Cohutta Mountains and more. There were even reports of some light flurries in farther areas of the metro Atlanta area like Roswell and Woodstock.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued for the northern most counties where we could expect 1-to-2 inches of snow with upwards of 3-to-4 inches in the higher elevations.

Heavier snow was possible in parts of Fannin, Gilmer and Murray counties. Outside of that area, you can expect a dusting. The warning lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory was also issued for Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties. This advisory also lasts until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

But the snow and flurries won't be the only weather event we will have to deal with. It will be windy - and cold - as well. A Wind Advisory will be in effect beginning at 4 p.m. Monday and will last until 4 p.m. Tuesday for Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, and White counties.

Winds will be out of the NW at 20 to 30 mph with gust as high as 40 mph. Winds this strong could blow around unsecured objects, and bring down weak trees and tree limbs. It could also produce a few power outages.
