Weather blog | Parts of Georgia sees storm debris as heavy rain moves through

ATLANTA — A cold front Thursday night will help usher in Georgia's next chance for heavy rain and strong storms.  

11Alive's Storm Tracker team is forecasting the potential for strong winds and lightning in metro Atlanta and northwest Georgia. Though forecasters said it will largely be an overnight event, storms will likely be around Thursday night into early Friday morning.

11:15 p.m. | The National Weather Service has expired the Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Douglas, Clayton Counties. 

11:08 p.m. | An NWS advisory said severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from North Druid Hills to Gran Park-Zoo Atlanta to near College Park, moving east at 50 mph.

11:07 p.m. | Pickens County Fire said it responded to a tree falling in front of a medical unit. Paramedics and the truck are OK, according to authorities.

10:50 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Douglas, Clayton Counties until 11:15 p.m.

10:40 p.m. | A photo posted to social media shows Pickens County first responders working a vehicle crash in Pickens County. Authorities are asking people to stay off the roadways.

Deputies have received several reports of trees and power lines down with multiple accidents in the area of Hwy 136 and Hwy 136 connector. Stay off of roadways at this time if at all possible.

10:35 p.m. | The Pickens County Sheriff's Office is working to remove uprooted trees and storm debris from roadways, according to a Facebook post. Authorities are asking people to stay away from the Highway 36 and Highway 136 connector.

9:42 p.m. | The Pickens County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating reports of storm damage and crashes.

9:30 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has expired for Cherokee, Pickens, Dawson, Bartow.

9:04 p.m. | A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Cherokee, Pickens, Dawson, Bartow until 9:30 p.m. 

8:38 p.m. |  A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Floyd, Bartow, Gordon, Pickens, Cherokee, Dawson, Gilmer until 9 p.m.

8:06 p.m. | There is a Wind Advisory in effect until 3 a.m. Friday. Winds will be between 10 and 20 mph, gusts will be in the 30 mph range.

5:13 p.m. | Tornado Watch issued for Cleburne County, Alabama. The National Weather Service has issued the alert until 10 p.m.
