ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado was responsible for the damage seen around a home in Adairsville.
The agency's team, was surveying damage Friday morning in Gordon County following the storms in Georgia yesterday.
They confirmed with 11Alive meteorologist Wes Peery that the damage was due to a tornado.
They said it was an EF-0 tornado that damaged several homes and uprooted numerous trees and that it lasted only two minutes.
The storms prompted multiple warnings and watches throughout much of the day. Heavy rains also caused flooding throughout the metro.
The NWS says Athens recorded just under 4-inches of rain and Atlanta recorded 2.84-inches.
The Thursday storms moved out and brought in much colder temperatures to our area. Some parts of the north metro and north Georgia had light snow flurries.
Some schools delayed or canceled class on Friday, too.
