FORSYTH, Ga. — Editor's note: The video in this story is from a previous report.
The infant daughter of a Georgia deputy is recovering well after heart surgery, her family shared in an update on Tuesday.
Baby Adeline was born on Oct. 25. She's been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ever since after several health challenges, including battling rhinovirus, viral bronchiolitis, and meningitis.
Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Nathan Burks previously said his wife, Bella Burks, had a high-risk pregnancy, and they had weekly consultations with specialists leading up to her birth.
Baby Adeline has remained in the hospital throughout the holidays, but thankfully, her long stay led to doctors being able to fix the hole in her heart.
Nathan shared the photo below of Adeline resting in her hospital bed with a Teddy Bear. He said Adeline is "recovering wonderfully" -- marking a significant milestone in her journey to recovery.
The Burks family has received an outpouring of love and support from the community -- with hundreds writing letters as Adeline continues to recover.
We're all rooting for you, Adeline!
