The fire happened on Monday, Sept. 9, just before 1:30 a.m., at the home along Cohassett Lane.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect has been identified by Mississippi authorities after a man and woman were found shot to death in a burned home in DeKalb County last week.

The fire happened on Monday, Sept. 9, just before 1:30 a.m., at the home along Cohassett Lane. When firefighters arrived, they found the home partially collapsed and two people dead inside.

A week later, fire officials said the two victims -- a man and a woman -- died from gunshots before the fire happened.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the victims as 28-year-old Brittany Hall and 35-year-old Derris Woods.

The man and woman were shot before the fire happened, police say.
