ATLANTA — If you’re an Atlanta-area teacher, make sure to stop by the Georgia International Convention Center today.
Kroger is giving away school supplies on Tuesday, among them copy paper, construction paper, markers, scotch tape, disinfectant wipes and sandwich bags, according to a release.
The grocery chain said it will be giving away more than $70,000 worth of supplies around the area, up to $30 individually to any teacher on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“Each year, an increasing number of teachers are forced to use their own paycheck to purchase classroom supplies,” Felix Turner, of Kroger’s Atlanta division, said in a release. “Our Teacher Supply Giveaway helps alleviate this pressure on teachers, by providing the tools they need to successfully educate our children.”
The event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or until supplies run out.
A similar Kroger event was held in Gwinnett County last week,
"It means a lot. Every year, I come out to this Kroger event. This gets me started, and I like that," teacher Delfina Lewis told 11Alive's Donovan Harris at that event. "It takes off a burden, and I still use my money for other things for my students."
