BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — Family and friends of a Kennesaw State University student killed in a deadly Bartow County crash off Interstate 75 last weekend gathered Friday to say their goodbyes.
Aimee Odom was remembered as a light -- a hard worker with a sweet spirit who would give her all to those around her.
The 21-year-old was one of five people killed in the crash just before Red Top Mountain Road last Sunday evening. Five others were also hurt and taken to area hospitals.
Her community gathered together in Cartersville for an 11 a.m. service for the beloved student, wearing pink, her favorite color.
11Alive spoke to those who knew her and called the loss "heartbreaking."
"I don't think I know anybody who disliked Aimee," her best friend's mother, Colleen Gray, shared.
Gray said Aimee was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back if anyone needed it. Now, she's left to grapple with why a tragedy would occur and how to help her children with losing someone close to them.
"Why this beautiful young lady," she questioned. "And then, as a mom, how can I help my kids? How can I hold it together long enough to help my kids?"

The crash also claimed the lives of several members of one family. An online fundraiser for the family said they were heading back from a church function when the crash happened. Dakarai Mason, Erin Mason and Brandon Crawford died at the scene. Two of their sons were taken to the hospital, but in a tragic update, the Masons' son Titus died days later.
The Mason's son, Brandon, will be buried on Sunday.
The crash is still under investigation.
